Dr. Ionuţ Iosifescu Enescu is the technical coordinator of EnviDat (www.envidat.ch), the environmental data portal and research data management repository of the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL, a research institute of the ETH Domain. He graduated in 2003 with a Diploma in Geodesy from the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, a M.Sc. in Computer Science from ETH Zurich in 2009, and received his doctoral degree in Cartography and Geoinformation from ETH Zurich in 2011. He is involved in the open source geospatial community since 2005 by co-initiating the QGIS WMS Server. Before joining WSL in 2017, he established at ETH Zurich one of the first OSGeo Open Source Geospatial Laboratories in Switzerland. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 scientific publications overall, with 10 journal articles and around 25 peer-reviewed conference papers. Currently, he actively develops EnviDat towards the ultimate goal of making environmental data accessible.
