Msilikale Msilanga has the masters degree in Regional Development Planning and Management Funded by the Germany Academic Exchange Serbice (DAAD) study programme “Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies” (SPRING), jointly offered by the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia and the Faculty of Spatial Planning, Technische Universität Dortmund in Germany. This is to say that Msilikale has the experience in Africa, Europe and Latin America on the same field.

As a highly motivated project researcher with an internationally recognised experience in geospatial information, Msilikale have guided and led a project researches to help the university networks in Tanzania and Finland to shape their curriculum into the resilience and Geo-ICT, open source and community engagement researches, an interdisciplinary project across Business, Geospatial and Data Science disciplines, generating real-world impact for non-governmental organisations, community and businesses across Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia.

In additional to being a project researcher, he consult for the World Bank’s Tanzania Urban Resilience Program and Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project, on the technical components of geospatial information, primarily in East Africa. As part of this, I have co-led the Ramani Huria community mapping project for Africa’s fastest growing city, Dar es Salaam. So far this has impacted over 3.5 million residents of the city providing basemaps and flood evacuation plans, while coordinating a consortium consisting of the Red Cross, local universities and Tanzanian government ministries and agencies.

In 2018 he was a core-chair of one of the biggest events in the world; FOSS4G 2018 which stands for Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial, is the event which was held in Dar es Salaam in August 2018. The event was attended by more than more than 1000 participants to that event from different part of the world.
