A geospatial scientist by training, Dr. Tuong-Thuy Vu now is a Vice President for research and international cooperation of Hoa Sen University, Vietnam. He has over 15 years of teaching and research across Eurasia including Japan (2003-2008), Sweden (2008-2010), Malaysia (2011-2017) and Vietnam (from 2017). He was an Associate Professor of University of Nottingham, Malaysia campus and established the very first OSGEO lab in Southeast Asia, a member of GeoForAll network. He is currently an OSGEO charter member and Asia chair of GeoforAll network.
He has been developing research in earth observation data analytics since 2000 and published over 80 research papers. He was a recipient of the 2005 Japan Survey Technology Awards. He is also a fellow and council member of ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.
