Association Française pour l’Information Géographique

AFIGEO (French Association for Geographic Information) is a national, nonprofit organization who promote exchanges between suppliers, users, prescribers and decision-makers in the field of Geographic Information, from provider to user of digital geographic data (Geodata).

AFIGEO gather 200 public and private members in 3 clusters : Uses and Users, Companies and Industries, Training and Research. A community of interest bringing a global and future vision for a strategic, innovative and expanding sector.

Key partner for steering the French policy in geographic information and member of EUROGI (European Umbrella Organization for Geographic Information), AFIGEO aims to support the expansion of the French GIS-sector:

– Organization of a national event for all French GIS community (www.geodatadays.fr) and many thematic workshops
– Coproduction of reference publications on geodata sector
– Animation and monitoring of observatories on the dynamics of the sector (territorial platforms, companies, training…)
– Ensuring and disseminating information on legislative, technological developments… and opportunities around geodata.
